Lectures for Fall 2017

October 12, 2017        Medicine Buddha Practice: Working with the Universal Doctor
Medicine Buddha is the practice of healing. Healing can be understood as wholeness of our body/mind, our relationships, physical environment and our planet. The sacred path of healing is not a secret. Your body is the body of the universe and as such, anything that you can possibly need is already there. Healing is about knowing where and how to look.  Medicine Buddha Practices will be our  guidance to wholeness.
October 19, 2017        Anatomy of a Mature Human
There are ten attributes that a person who has gained mastery of the body/mind manifests. This lecture will deal with six: 1) Dana (Generosity); 2) Sila (Morality); 3) Khanti (Patience); 4) Viruya (Energy/Strength); 5) Dhyani (Concentration); and 6) Prajna (Wisdom).  Every time you find yourself in an impasse, contemplating these attributes and their qualities can be of great guidance and assistance.

October 26, 2017      The Arrow That Gives Life

This lecture asks and answers the question, “Can the questions of life can be summed up by the Buddhist story of being shot by an arrow?”

November 2, 2017     I Don’t Need a Teacher and Other Gambling Stories

Is it true, as some believe, that we no longer need spiritual teachers because we can be our own teachers? The lecture will explore the role of a teacher and the mind of a true student and discuss how the belief that we no longer need the guidance of spiritual teachers and mentors can be detrimental to our personal growth.
