Shaman Medicine and Yoga
Join Theodore Tsaousidis Sunday September 30th from 1:30pm-4:30pm for a talk on shamanism, medicine, and yoga
Seventy thousand years ago on a plateau, a human being sensed the wind caress her body. At that moment she remembered the language of the earth. There was no duality in the response. The mind was there but something bigger was in relationship with her body/world. This experience, the act of listening to nature and reciprocal response is what we call yoga. Mindfulness is that organic attention to one’s body/mind/ world. The shamanic path or experience is that primordial relationship available to all of us helping us reconnect to earth, our bodies, to all things animate and inanimate. Through sound, movement, and personal mandalas, we will experience yoga and mindfulness rooted in shamanism – a full embrace of the sacred.
Theodore Tsaousidis has been conscious of his spiritual journey from an early age. Born in a rural community in Greece surrounded by mountains and valleys, he was profoundly shaped by nature and the ancient tradition of village elders and healers. His connection to nature and the spirit world is an integral part of who he is – as is his dedication to the Zen training he has followed for 30 years. He is also blessed by the guidance of the Venerable Zasep Tulku Rinpoche, director and teacher of the Zuru Ling Society in Vancouver and Tashi Choling in Nelson, B.C. His healing and shamanic sharing stem from, his cultural roots, personal experience, and Tibetan and Buddhist traditions. Theodore sees shamanism and meditation as a great alchemy for the healing of self and others.
